does ai chatbot slowly get worse the longer the conversation goes on?

I noticed recently in chatgpt as well as claude that the longer the conversation goes on, the worse the code it gives out. Feels like these models are specifically trained on 0 shot prompting and just summarizes the entire convo if it gets too long, which obv will break some context.

on a side note, why is the chatgpt site so badly designed? It loads the entire conversation's texts and just feels so laggy.
